KATHMANDU, DEC 27 – Senior UCPN (Maoist) leader Baburam Bhattarai has said their party’s downfall would be imminent if they fail to address the voices of the oppressed communities.

Inaugurating the district conclave of Revolutionary Journalists’ Federation, Kavre chapter on Saturday, leader Bhattarai hinted on possibility of formation of new power if the UCPN (M) remains status quoist.

“If the recently emerged powerful party like Maoist fails to spear the revolution to bring changes or remains as status quoist; it is necessary that a new force should come against Maoist to lead the revolution,” Bhattarai said,” Our downfall will be inevitable if we fail to lead the movement against the class, nationality, regional, gender and caste oppression to ensure equality and justice for the common people.”

Bhattarai opined, in the social development process, a power emerges with revolutionary ideas and after certain point it gives up its revolution and remains as status quoist; thereafter a new power emerges to continue the revolution and the process continues.

In Nepali context, Nepali Congress had emerged in the beginning with progressive ideas followed by then CPN-ML. After these parties failed to continue the revolution, Maoists emerged in Nepal as the revolutionary and progressive force, Bhattarai said.
